What would it be like if you knew that the way you act at any time was the only possible way you could have?
How would it feel to know that at any given moment you were behaving in the healthiest way you could?
What would it be like if you believed this was also true for everyone else?
Naturalistic Support helps us understand how, at any given moment we behave in the only way we can, and in the healthiest way that our determinants enable. Based on an experimental mindset, and a naturalistic model of human behavior, Naturalistic Support can help us fulfill our potential and enjoy happier, healthier relationships.
The naturalistic model of human behavior is partly based on the idea that, with all events leading up to a given moment as they were, we will always behave in the only way we can — this understanding is called metawareness. The naturalistic model further explains that people who are healthy and have had sufficient developmental support will be naturally inclined to act in the ways we would want ourselves and others to act, this understanding is referred to as proanthropy. Applying these insights to how we should think about ourselves and the people in our lives, along with an experimental approach, is the conceptual basis for naturalistic support.
Techniques used in Naturalistic Support are inspired by some of the tools and practices used in science. In the pursuit of scientific knowledge researchers employ a variety of cognitive tools and practices to help them obtain accurate and useful results. These tools include: applying cause and effect thinking; using precise and descriptive language; keeping detailed records of observations; isolating variables; testing if an assumption can be falsified; and adopting an experimental mindset to consider alternate perspectives and receive new, and sometimes surprising information.
Although some forms of Naturalistic Support techniques appear in other therapeutic modalities Naturalistic Support is not intended to be a substitute for other forms of counseling traditionally provided by licensed professionals. It is an approach to providing self-help and non-hierarchical peer support, to facilitate lasting personal growth. Naturalistic Support is a set of techniques intended to be open ended, increasing as Naturalistic Humanism evolves.
