Healthy Distractions

Sometimes a loss is felt so deeply that even after a reasonable mourning period we can still find it difficult to resume normal life.  Taking on a challenging activity or learning to do something new requires intense concentration and prevents our ruminating about the loss.  Physical activity as intense as one can safely handle is also beneficial.  Volunteering to help others can also be an effective way of dealing with grief and might be even more satisfying if the cause had a connection to the deceased.
