Lasting Growth and Change

New determinants are constantly influencing us and as they interact, new and surprising results become possible.  When determinants interact creating new and unexpected outcomes, the results are considered “emergent.”  In numerous fields, such as physics and evolutionary biology, the concept of emergent properties has been applied to a wide range of phenomenon, including the origin of life itself.  Becoming metaware – appreciating that our behavior is the inexorable result of our determinants, is itself a potent new determinant, significantly impacting how we think and behave, setting the stage for the emergence of lasting personal growth and change.
