The people we love change us profoundly. We could not have loved them had we not made ourselves vulnerable, letting them into our hearts and minds, and changing us forever. We will recall the moments we shared, how they might have reacted to something that just happened, and even imagine the sound of their voice. Who they were and how they behaved will continue to live on inside of us, sometimes consciously, but more often unconsciously. All of our relationships alter who we are, but none so deeply and permanently then those with whom we have truly loved. Although we may forget some of our shared experiences, for the rest of our lives the impact of having known our departed loved ones will live on inside of us.
